Evaluating the Usefulness of the Learning Tools in Monolingual Online Dictionaries for Learners of English: Gauging the Preferences of Polish Students of English

The aim of the report is twofold. First, learning tools available in monolingual online dictionaries for learners English are described. Second, an evaluation usefulness provided. To meet aims present contribution, a survey was administered on 318 Polish students English. respondents, who participated lecture devoted to topic dictionaries, were instructed complete questionnaire. A mixed-question format adopted. In first part questionnaire, participants had rate features Macmillan Dictionary semantic differential scale 1–7. second part, there two open-ended questions. asked name most and least useful explain their choices. results suggest that majors studying at university accord high priority consulting which give them valuable information collocations, synonyms semantically related words.
